HERE ARE THE ANSWERS TO OUR "QD"s

1. Many corals have a mutualistic relationship with zooxanthellae.

3. The most important element a plant needs to photosynthesis is light.
4. The earth rotates East.
5. The organism that can conforms its salinity in its bodily fluids to its environment is an osmoconformer.
6. Gamets are haploid cells and therefore contain only half the chromosomes the rest of the cells in the body contain.
7. The thermocline is a transitional layer in the water column between the warmer latyer on top and the colder layer below. It is found in the open ocean away from the continental shelf ranging in depth from 660 to 5,000 feet.
8. It takes a great deal of energy to change the temperature of water because water has a very large specific heat.
9. A prokaryotic is the simplest and smallest cell. It has no membrane-bound organelles and organisms made up of these cells are called prokaryotes. We call them bacteria.
A eukaryotic cell has many membrane-bound organelles that perfom many complex functions. Organisms made up of these cells are called eukaryotes.
10. Blue-green algae should really be called cynobacteria . Algae are eukaryotic, but blue-green algae are not, they are prokaryotic.
